The Song Chart
Logic Puzzle

Back in the late 60s, one of the features on KATZ Radio is the Friday evening “Top Seven Show”.  Friday is the night when the top seven hit records in the Happy Valley listening area are played in order from seven up to one.

This week six famous rock groups plus one solo act, each recording for a different label, are in the Top Seven.

From the following clues, can you determine which group has which number record and the record company for which the group records?

1.    The Grateful Dead’s record is one position below the one on Nadir Records, but one position above the song by the Supremes.

2.    The record by the Jefferson Airplane is below the song on the Sol label on the charts but higher than the Jimi Hendrix hit.

3.    The record on the Trolley label ranks one position above the recording on Jamm Records, which is above the Rolling Stones hit.

4.    These three records occupy consecutive positions, from top to bottom, on the Top Seven List: the Beatles recording, the record produced by Avocado Records, and the hit by The Doors.

5.    The Jimi Hendrix hit, which is not on the Speck label and is not number four on the list, is charted above the record on the Heart label.

So What does Rick have to say about the Puzzle?

This puzzle was somewhat difficult. But as long as you take your time, it is imminently solvable.  I would rate the difficulty as "easy" to "medium" depending on how much experience you have with Logic Puzzles.  You should definitely give it a try!  Good luck!
