BEGINNING SALSA - Jamie and Theresa
Prerequisite: No requirements

Salsa Dancing came to the forefront of America's consciousness with Ricky Martin's "Living La Vida Loca" in 2000.  In the years since Salsa has pushed Swing Dancing aside and Western Dancing aside to become the most popular form of Dancing in the entire country. Unlike most dance crazes that come and go within a year or two, Salsa just keeps growing and growing.

There are a few people on the Planet who still don't know how to Salsa. If you are one of them and you want to enjoy the great party we are having tonight, then this is the course to take.  Beginning Salsa is where it all starts.

INTERMEDIATE SALSA - Alex
Prerequisite:
Completed Beg Salsa

If you already have finished Beginning Salsa and want some new patterns to practice at the Party tonight, give this class a try. Martin will introduce some "test" patterns from our upcoming Intermediate Salsa 4 that will debut in August.  If you survive, we will assume the patterns work. Thanks for volunteering for the experiment!!

SALSA MERENGUE - Jill
Prereq: No prerequisite

Merengue is a major Salsa dances known as the
"Walking Dance". You take a step on each beat of the music.

Featuring terrific hip motion and fun patterns, Merengue is a major dance in the Latin clubs !

Merengue is lots of fun and very easy to learn.  Expect to pretty much the entire dance in this crash course.

CUMBIA/TEJANO - Linda
Prereq: No prerequisite

There are three types of Cumbias: Tejano, Columbian, and Cuban.

This course covers both the Tejano Cumbia, the Tejano Polka, and Cuban Cumbia (please note the Columbian Cumbia is covered in our Salsa classes).  The Tejano Polka (sometimes called the "Mexican Polka") uses a walking dance as opposed to the triple step footwork of the Texas Polka.

SALSA DIPS AND LUNGES - Steve Gekas
Prereq: Completed at least one month Intermediate Salsa
Couples only!

Hit a Dip position and draw every eye in the room straight to you as you perform dance tricks that people will love to watch!

Finish a Dip with a Lunge and no one in the room will be able to take their eyes off you for the rest of the song.

You own the dance floor.

Salsa Dips and Lunges add Theater Arts to the hottest dance around.

Steve Gekas has developed this course into the most popular Salsa Crash Course in studio history.  Come and see why!

ARGENTINE TANGO - Noe
Prereq: No prerequisite

As opposed to American Tango which is more structured and memorized, Argentine Tango is more creative and improvisational. With an emphasis on intricate footwork including foot flicks, leg wraps, and swivels, Argentine Tango is a wonderful dance!

People ask all the time what the difference is between American and Argentine and International Tango. Here is a wonderful quote :

"The forms of tango are like stages of a marriage. The American tango is like the beginning of a love affair, when you’re both very romantic and on your best behavior.

The Argentine tango is when you’re in the heat of things and all kinds of emotions are flying: passion, anger, humor."
