BEG TWOSTEP- Jack

The Texas Twostep is the most important Country and Western dance. It is easy to learn and fun to use. From George Strait's "Fool Hearted Memory" to Shania Twain's "Holding onto Love", the Twostep is used to a wide variety of C&W music. 

When you live in Houston, Texas, you should get plenty of opportunities where a little knowledge of the Twostep will come in pretty handy. And the Twostep is a fixture at Rodeo time. Come learn the fundamentals of this famous dance !

BEG WESTERN SWING – Linda
Prerequisite:  Beg Two-Step/Polka

Based on the Texas Twostep,  Western Swing takes you into the intricacies of spins and turns. 

Western Swing is the dance where eye-catching Double Turns are added to Polka and Two Step timing. Best described as "Twostep with Turns", the man twirls the lady with one or two hands as they circle the floor. Although Western Swing is a very popular dance, it is difficult to learn just by watching. 

This crash course covers the mechanics of leading the double turns and teaches the ladies how to turn properly. 

(We assume you already can Twostep. Otherwise you will be totally lost.)

BEG WESTERN WALTZ -  Marla
Prerequisite: None

Western Waltz is considered the "Romantic" Western dance. The stakes being what they are, no sensible man should ignore this important dance!  The moves are quite graceful and the music is very pretty.

Western Waltz patterns are taken from Ballroom Waltz. Some Waltz patterns travel and others such as the Box Step are danced in one area.  Western Waltz moves include the Ballroom Waltz patterns that automatically "travel" around the floor just as a Twostep or Polka would. At the party later on expect plenty of Western Waltzes like “You Look So Good in Love” and “Open Arms” to practice to at the dance party.
 

BEGINNING HUSTLE PATTERNS - Scott
Prerequisite:  Intermediate Swing, i.e. two months of East Coast Swing classes

The Latin Hustle is the famous Disco Dance from the 70s. This flashy partner dance is a clever combination of East Coast Swing footwork and Latin hip motion. 

The patterns and footwork are actually taken from Swing while hip motion and feel of the dance is more similar to Salsa.

You will certainly enjoy this dance which is a unique blend of both dance styles. 

DIRTY DANCING - Ben
Prerequisite: Couples Only

This "Dirty Dancing" is unquestionably one of the most popular Crash Courses in the history of the studio.

The moves are taken directly from Patrick Swayze's most famous movie. Each pattern would be quite impressive to watch if we could just get everyone to quit laughing so hard!!

Yes, the moves are quite sexy, but everyone has too much fun to take them seriously. Bring a smile and an open mind. You will have a ball!
 

ROMANTIC WESTERN SWING PTNS - Rick 
Prerequisite: some Adv Western Swing

There are many wonderful Western Swing patterns such as Cuddles, Skaters and Sweetheart where the lady is not exactly in the man's arms, but on the other hand you couldn't say they are dancing apart either.

Cuddles, Skaters and Sweetheart are not just cool places to be, there are many WONDERFUL moves!   In particular we will concentrate not only on going back and forth between these positions, but going from the right side to the left side as well.  It will all be so Romantic!
