Western
Dancing
at Westwind
|
|
 |
Every Tuesday night, the Westwind Club in northwest
Houston is home to some of the best Western dancing in the
city.
Thanks to our friend Gary Richardson, Tuesday Dancing
at Westwind has become a tradition among the Houston
Dance Community. Gary, the
DJ, plays host to Houston's best dancers every Tuesday who
come for an energetic night of dancing.
Oddly
enough, there are no 'regulars' to worry about. Thanks
to Gary's arrangement with management, his dancers have the
spacious dance floor all to themselves!
Since the place is never crowded and everyone is
friendly, Westwind is the perfect place for Beginners
to practice their dancing.
Although
Westwind is totally hidden from sight, the club is surprisingly easy to reach.
Westwind is located a block from the corner of
Tidwell and 290. Here are three different maps to help you
locate the club.

 |
If you
are heading north from Loop 610, take the Hollister-Tidwell exit and turn left on
Tidwell.
If you
are heading south, take the Tidwell
exit, and look for Guhn Road from the feeder
road just before you reach Tidwell. Guhn
Road will be an easy turn to your right.

About Westwind
|
Rick Archer's Note:
Back in August 2010, my wife Marla and I
hosted a
Pre-Cruise Meeting at Westwind.
Our
problem was that we had far too many people to hold
the meeting for our
2010 Bahamas Trip in our home. We were
fortunate to be given permission to hold our event
at Westwind.
During
our Pre-Cruise Event, we went over all the details,
had a big Potluck Dinner and then our group had a
great night of Western dancing.
Westwind Dance Club is clean, quiet, and
unpretentious. Its best feature is the
spacious dance floor.
In addition, they are very nice about letting us
play our own music. Since we have the place
all to ourselves, my friends love to dance here.

|
There is no cover charge at Westwind. All they
ask is that you purchase a beverage some time in the
evening. As far as dress code, I think they want you
to wear clothes.
Everyone is
welcome at the Tuesday April 19 Westwind Event regardless of
their dance experience. I have invited every Beginner
I know, so there will be no stigma to taking your first
steps here. In other words, you are all in the same
boat.
Speaking of
boats, if you would like to join us for a dance cruise
someday, our next trip is the 2011 Labor Day Dance Cruise.
There is plenty of space available!

See you on April
19th! Rick Archer
