Our Carnival Conquest
2008 Trip is a perfect 'End of the Summer' Vacation Getaway!
Due to our
phenomenal past success, we will continue our tradition of taking our
Western Caribbean cruise at the end of summer . We will be
sailing at the end of August this year. We will take advantage of
the Labor Day Holiday weekend and give you the opportunity to recover
from all your misbehavior on the cruise.
This year's trip is scheduled to depart on Sunday August 24th and cruise the beautiful Western Caribbean through Sunday,
August 31st. We are sailing once again on Carnival's Conquest as
it is the ONLY ship sailing from Galveston at this time of year.
Royal Caribbean's Voyager leaves Galveston at the end of April.
Enjoy seven nights experiencing luxury and grand style while sailing the
Caribbean Sea!
This trip is a sprint. Hold nothing back! Dance your hearts out for a
solid week with your friends from the studio. What better way to say
goodbye to summer???
This is our fourteenth SSQQ Cruise Adventure. Did you know we have taken
well over 1000 people sailing over the years?
You can expect plenty of Slow Dance, Romance, and a great deal of
mischief!
Before you read any further it is important that you know there is all
kinds of danger on SSQQ Cruises, especially for women.
It is a well-documented fact from previous trips is that the ladies of
the group are rendered helpless at sea. That ocean air is intoxicating
and their defenses are down. Any man who can dance and smile is certain
to be one heck of a popular guy aboard this trip!
This trip is safe for no woman.
But
better be careful, guys, you aren't invulnerable. We know from
experience that Cupid is always lurking just around the corner and he
may just have your number! So cruise at your own risk. You think you
can dance your way out of any trouble, but you could easily fool around
and fall in love... after all, we have a long list of couples who
connected on our cruises and ended up getting married.
Assuming you still want to come with us even though you have
now been
warned of the dangers, here is
the Itinerary for this trip:
Day One: Sunday - We set sail on
Sunday, August 24th at 4:00 pm out of Galveston.
Now as the evening draws near, we begin our adventure. The first
night will include a huge bash
courtesy of Carnival in appreciation for the size of our group.
This is when SSQQ will host a Welcome
Aboard Cocktail Party. There will
be unlimited drinks plus we will dance and we will party till we drop!
Day Two: Monday - We are at
sea, so this is the perfect time for dance classes. On last
year's cruise, we learned Foxtrot, Cha Cha
and
Salsa. It was loads of fun!
This will be the first
Formal
Night. It is important
to make this our Group Photo Night.
We have found in the past that if we wait till later in the
week, people have trouble standing up.
After our Group Picture, we will drift over to the Main Lounge
for the Captain's
Welcome Aboard
Cocktail Party.
This is your chance to join the rest of the
Dance Group to put on a real show. This is the
perfect opportunity to show off your ballroom dance skills in
front of the entire ship. Expect to
Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing and Slow Dance
to the Big Band music played by the ship's orchestra.
"In the Mood" and "Moonlight Serenade" will
be your inspiration!

We are always the stars of this evening as the other passengers smile
and gaze at our dancing with appreciation. This evening is definitely
one of the highlights of the trip!
Day Three: Tuesday - Sleep in after
partying hard last night and then enjoy a leisurely breakfast chatting
with fellow SSQQ cruisers. Enjoy another day at sea relaxing in the sun
by the pool or frolicking in the hot tub.
Since we are still at Sea sailing our way to
Jamaica, we will have our second dance class today. Perhaps we can
create other scheduled group activities?? Hot
Tub stuffing, George?
Day Four: Wednesday - We arrive in
Montego Bay, Jamaica on Wednesday at 8:00 am. Departure
time is 5:30 pm.
Montego Bay, known as "Mo' Bay" to the locals, is Jamaica's second
largest community.
Gorgeous white-sand beaches and mangrove wetlands surround the old town,
which rests at the bottom of lush green mountains. Montego Bay offers
the best of the Caribbean, including beautiful Georgian architecture in
the historic town of Falmouth. Surround yourself with the essence of
Jamaica in the island's friendliest city.
Shore excursions include zip lining through the
trees, whitewater rafting on the Great River, visits
to Dunn River's Falls with opportunities to climb the 600 foot
waterfall, enjoying a scenic jeep ride through the mountainside and then
jungle river tubing. Or you can tour the Appleton Estate and explore
first hand the traditions and culture behind the production of some of
the world's finest rum.
Day Five: - Thursday
We arrive early in Georgetown, Grand
Cayman. We have from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. to see the island.
Last year we were fortunate enough to actually make
it to Grand Cayman. We found it to be the highlight of the trip!
The beaches here are some of the most beautiful in the world.
Take a research submarine and surround yourself with exotic marine
life and huge coral formations as you explore the famous Cayman Wall, or
snorkel with the Stingrays and enjoy the beautiful Cayman waters, or
simply stroll through the quaint village and spend some time shopping.
There is an activity for everyone!
The Cayman Islands are not only beautiful; they are kind of strange
because there are no "poor people" in sight.
The people who wait on you in the shops are usually reading a
book or cruising the Internet in their spare moments. It is
disconcerting to be sold a yogurt by someone who looks wealthier
than you!
Fortunately the evening offers a chance to regain your sense of
personal wealth as it features the second Formal Night. Everyone
looks terrific all dressed up and fancy. If
for some reason we don't get the group picture on Monday, we will
use this night as our second chance to get
this done.

 |
Day 6: - Friday Our
final stop is our friend Cozumel. We have from 9:00 am until 6:00
to enjoy this tropical paradise.
It should not be difficult to organize a Beach
Brigade. There are always lot of people
who would like to spend the day at one of the several stunning beaches
of Cozumel. Snorkeling
is one of the easiest sports imaginable. If you can swim, you should be
able to snorkel. Since Cozumel is an island, they are able to protect
their waters from any mainland pollution. The water right below our ship
is so clear you can almost see the bottom. Just 100 yards from where our
ship docks begin water we can actually snorkel in for free if we wish.
More likely as a group we will taxi to one of Cozumel's many
crystal-clear water spots and snorkel the afternoon away. All you need
to do to participate is purchase your gear in advance at a Houston
sporting goods store or simply rent the gear in Cozumel. This will save
you a $70 guide fee.
If a day at the beach isn't your thing, Cozumel has a terrific shopping
center just a short walk (400 yards) from the ship. You can purchase tee
shirts, onyx chess sets, jewelry, liquor, beach towels; you name it. The
mall is extensive and ultra-safe. We saw police everywhere. And there
were no panhandlers either. You can bargain with everyone and get some
excellent deals.
You will also have the opportunity to visit an ancient Mayan ruin dating
back to 600 AD or take a jeep tour of the island. There is a wide
selection of excursions available.
And of course our notorious troublemakers will surely
organize a bar-hopping tour. Join at your own risk!
And that night if you are still standing, we can hook up the SSQQ
Jukebox and have our own dance party!!
Day 7: Saturday - This
is our last day at sea. Enjoy the fresh air and mingle with your
fellow SSQQ travelers. There is always fun and dancing to live music on
the Poolside Deck throughout the day. We will conclude with our final
group dance lesson.
Now let's review why this trip will be great:
First and foremost, we are sailing aboard the beautiful Carnival
Conquest for seven nights at affordable pricing! The Conquest is a
110,00 ton Megaliner of floating fun. Enjoy the life of luxury for only
$90 per day.
Where else can you get a deal like that??? Accommodations, fine dining
and entertainment all included in the price. And the opportunity to
share this experience with your fellow SSQQ cruise enthusiasts!
- SSQQ Cruises feature lots of Dancing.
We begin with our first SSQQ sponsored dance event: the hour long
Cocktail Party
In addition, we will have SSQQ Dance Workshops on each of our three days
at sea. We will dance Swing, Cha Cha, Salsa, Slow Dance, Rueda, you name
it. These workshops are well-attended and provide a fun way to get to
know your fellow shipmates within the SSQQ group!
There are usually other ship sponsored dance classes as well taught by
instructors working for the ship. Although much of the material is
pretty easy, our dancers thoroughly enjoy the extended opportunities to
dance and dance some more! And you never know whom you might meet!
As mentioned previously, other dancing opportunities include the formal,
upscale Captain's Welcome Aboard Party. During our 2001 Celebration
cruise in August 2001, there was a terrific band that played Big Band
Swing, Foxtrot, and Slow Dance music and we danced on the main stage.
The SSQQ dancers basically took the entire floor over to the delight of
the audience. Our dancing was so good people in the audience would greet
us as we returned to our seats and thank us for being so much fun to
watch. When you add up all the great dancers in our group, we definitely
put on quite a show.
- A Week of Adventure with your Friends
Whether it is snorkeling at Cozumel, zip-lining
through the jungle in
Jamaica, swimming with the sting rays at Grand Cayman, dancing with the
group in a workshop or romancing with someone special in a secluded
cubby hole on the ship, the SSQQ Cruise is a chance to make firm and
lasting friendships that will continue after you have left the ship. The
romance angle is well-known, but less advertised are all the neat people
you will meet on this trip that continue to share adventures with you
after you return to land.
First deposit of $250 is due by March 27th.

our lives, so hop on board and join us before the ship sells out!!!
